WE CAME TOGETHER BECAUSE OF A NEED:
FIGHTING AGAINST PREJUDICES, WHETHER THEY’RE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE GAMING WORLD
In spite of rapidly growing up, the gamer community is still victim of many forms of prejudice. Players are mistakenly considered to be sedentary or introverted people, pro-players do not have the recognition they should, and eSports are not officially recognized as a sport. Unlike other communities, gamers didn’t have a movement to represent them. Until now, that is.
Go For Gaming has arisen from this need, in order to defend this cause. Its goal is not only to eradicate stereotypes and prejudices, but also to bring more recognition to professionals in the sector and visibility to the scene, which only continues to grow. To get off on the right foot, Go For Gaming started with a charitable donations campaign that will allow users to donate for 5 months. A huge event on December 22nd, 2018 will serve to top off the campaign.
This year, the largest beneficiary of the donations gathered from this project will be Liga Solidária, a non-profit organization driven by the belief that it’s possible to live in fairer society as long as we promote love, solidarity and work.
More than 10,000 children, teens, adults and elderly people in situations of high social vulnerability are helped throughout the year in 8 education and citizenship programs that work to safeguard dignity while fostering autonomy.
About 90% of the work carried out by the Liga Solidária is developed at the Complexo Educacional Dom Duarte (EDD), spanning some 480,000 square meters and located in the Raposo Tavares District. The institution also undertakes social projects in three other districts of São Paulo, which are Saúde, Rio Pequeno, and Cidade Monções.
Going beyond the boundaries of our own scene, this movement unifies gamers for the common cause, helping eradicate stereotypes and prejudices wherever they may be found and doing good for thousands of people.
